Isabela Dorneles serves as the Senior Manager of State and Local Government Affairs at the American Hotel and Lodging Association (AHLA), the U.S. lodging industry’s largest trade association. In this role, she is responsible for championing the industry’s voice and executing AHLA’s national strategy across the US.
Working closely with Partner State Associations, she advocates for AHLA’s national priorities at the state, local, and county levels on emerging issues, such as ensuring a level playing field with short-term online rental companies. Isabela also seeks to build consensus at the national level, through the State Government Affairs Council, the National Conference of State Legislatures, the U.S. Conference of Mayors, both the Republican and Democratic Attorney Generals Associations, ISHA and others.
Outside of the office, Isabela is on the Diversity Equity and Inclusion Committee and State Relations Task Force for Women in Government Relations, is a mentor, and is proactive in the Washington Area State Relations Group. Isabela is a loving, compassionate, inspirational leader, committed to cultural diversity, equity and inclusion; environmental sustainability; and women’s empowerment. In her free time, she enjoys dancing, rock climbing, and traveling.
Prior to joining AHLA, Isabela worked in the Florida Senate, the Florida House of Representatives, and at various non-profits. Isabela holds degrees in International Relations and Environmental Studies, both of which were earned at Florida State University.
